Comment: I had the pleasure of having my first horse back riding experience at Cactus Jacks yesterday and I’m still smiling at the experience! Everything from the location, to my guide (Johnny) and my horse (Baxter) were lovely. It was obvious that Johnny was well versed in all things equine and the great outdoors so I felt comfortable, engaged and safe during my ride. If I’m ever in the area again I will definitely be returning. Thanks again!

Comment: Loved this place!! I decided last minute to try it and was so happy I did. The staff are very friendly and relaxed. I loved meeting all of the horses and enjoyed the trail ride so much!!! My horse River was perfect and I loved him. He was so sweet and nice which is good because I am not an experienced rider. Will definitely go back, hopefully with my friend JoJo.

Comment: My mother and I visited Cactus Jacks while on vacation. This was such a fun and peaceful place to go on a leisure horseback ride. The staff that day were so kind and welcoming and calmed the nerves of riding a horse for the first time in years. Our trail guide, Maddison, was very informative of the horses, conservation and very enthusiastic- you could tell she absolutely loves what she does and works hard to provide the best experience for the riders and horses. I highly recommend this place to those who love horses and horseback riding as well as to beginners who would love to try it!

Comment: Unforgettable experience! We had such a blast! Most of us were inexperienced and a little nervous but our guides, Johnny and Maddie put us at ease. Johnny knew everything about everything! Every question i asked, about the area, terrain, history, etc., he shared happily. Pretty knowledgeable and entertaining guy! It began to lightly rain, then downpoured. We were all soaked! We couldnt stop laughing at that point. It was funny and beautiful at the same time!Highly recommend if your looking for some interest and fun!

We rode Helga and Gypsy. Both “gentle giants”. The group was super fun and the trail itself was something out of jumanji or ferngully. It was magical. Both funny and informative while riding the trail and attentive at all times making sure you and your horse were okay. I had the pleasure of riding Baxter and my husband had the pleasure of riding Mocha. It was our first time riding horses and we would definitely return to do it again. Beautiful, majestic and magnificent stable of horses here. It was nice hearing some of the horses personal backstories too. Highly recommend!

Horseback isn’t really my thing but my friend really enjoyed the experience.

We has Madison as our tour guide and she did a fantastic job taking care of us and 4 other guests. Along with giving us information about the horses and their backgrounds, Madison also have us done cool history rid-bits throughout the trail! Would highly recommend anybody interested in going. Comment: My husband and I decided to take an early morning ride while it was still cool. We arrived a half hour early as instructed which allowed our guide, Madison, to get us introduced, signed in, and familiarized with the lovely horses at the site. The website registration had us provide our weight and experience level, so our respective horses had been selected and prepped. They did a great job matching us up! We headed out promptly at 9:00 a.m. for 1.5 hours. Madison is very knowledgeable and friendly, and its clear that she and the proprietors have a great deal of love and care for these horses. We chatted much of the way, meandering through the wooded and shaded pathways, and the horses behaved beautifully. I felt 1.5 hours was enough for us, though 2 and 3 hour tours are available for those who want more time. It wasnt buggy, stayed nice and cool, and I was super pleased having spent my morning with Madison, Helga and Pokey. And my husband as well, of course. Give them a try!

Comment: My two friends and I went on the 1 1/2 hours trail ride. We also own horses so we know what to look for if horses are not cared for. We were happy to see these horses in great shape! No ribs showing. That’s important to us. The ride focused on safety withone leader in front and one at end of group. The leader constantly turned around to check on group and told us some funny stories on his interactions with horses. He also took pictures of all the riders. We would highly recommend this trail ride company!

This is a great place for first timers, especially children, who just want the experience of riding a horse (instead of playing cowboy). My husband joined her and said she had an absolute blast. She rode Desi an older horse and I feel that was perfectly matched.I cant wait to go next time and join her as Im sure she will want to go again.My husband was glad the site said to arrive 30 minutes early. We live on the east coast and we planned accordingly for traffic and stops. Comment: My first time horseback riding and it was AMAZING!!! My friend and I went on vacation to Ocala for a few days and found this wonderful place to ride horses. We seen the wonderful reviews and wanted to experience it for ourselves. It was one of the best experiences of our lives. The instructor, Sarah, was great! She was very professional, friendly, informative and just loved her job. We went on an hour ride for $60 a person ( very affordable) and was educated about the history of the trail. The trail was is the shade so it wasnt too hot and the trees were a sight to see! We will be back and I can not wait to see my horse, Mr. Pokey.

Comment: I vacationed from Pennsylvania and wanted to get my mom wife and daughter a gilded horse ride. I took to Google to find a place based on the reviews. This place is on point, organized, and the staff are blue collar horse lovers that know what they are doing. Don’t second guess a thing when trying to make a decision this is the place.

Comment: I would give Cactus Jacks a 5 for sure. Great experience, knowledgeable guides and you can tell that the horses there are loved and well taken care of. Would recommend this place to everyone and I cant think of a better way to escape reality for an hour or two than to quietly ride a horse through the Ocala National Forest.

Comment: Went to cactus jacks trail rides and we where treated amazingly. The gentleman that guided us on our 60 min ride was very thoughtful, professional and made us laugh. He always kept an eye on the people in our group that wasnt a experienced rider. Definitely recommend!!!! We will be going back. I live in Virginia and will be making the trip back to take more people on this ride. We will also be doing the longer rides as well.

I was fortunate to take Pokey (Appaloosa?) out and he couldn’t have been better- very smooth and responsive to the lightest inputs. Would definitely recommend these guys!

Comment: Great experience! I have done a couple trail rides here in the past, but it had been about 1 1/2 yrs. This time I brought a 16 yr. old girl who had never even been close to a horse. She was a little nervous, but our guides, Johnny and Susie, were excellent! The horses are so well-trained, and clearly very well cared for and loved. I loved my horse, Pokey! Johnny shared information about the horses, area wildlife and native plants as we rode, keeping it interesting. Both Johnny and Susie checked in on all the riders throughout the ride and made sure everyone was feeling comfortable, and gave encouragement to the young riders. This is also a beautiful location - a treasure to Ocala. Would be really interesting for non-Florida visitors who want a break from the Disney parks and crowded beaches!! I definitely recommend Cactus Jack’s for both experienced and complete beginner riders!

Comment: Took my wife to ride and It was awesome and calming experience. It also helps that we love horses. The horses have personality and listen to the handlers. Johnny was especially hospitable and would always ensure all guests were safe and horses were ok. They also let you take pictures on the horses afterwards if you want at no extra charge. Comment: My first ride since my hip replacement and it was smooth! My horse was Rebel and my daughter had sweet Maddy! The guides are great, the rest of the staff really takes care of everything for ya too. These horses are well loved and fed and you can tell by the interaction of the staff and what they tell you about your horse. I highly recommend this ride for families. What could be more fun than doing something outdoors like a trail ride with these guys and gals? It’s smooth, fun and safe.

The groups are no bigger than 6 and if you go on a week day, you’re more likely to have a smaller group! The horses are all super friendly, and so is the staff ☺️

Comment: Half of our group was beginners and half was experienced, but looking for a relaxed ride. We chose Cactus Jacks because my 6yr old was dying to ride. Shes ridden a half dozen times before, but has only been led. I was a little worried how a trail ride would go and did the mom thing and climbed on the platform when she was ready to mount. Johnny did amazing and took right over. He treated her just like everyone else. He checked in on her just as much as he did everyone else, but let her do her thing and Maddie took great care of her. After the ride I asked if shed had fun and all she talked about was how proud she was of herself for riding by herself for the first time and being so brave. We wont be back for another year, but shes already planning our next ride with Cactus Jacks and wants to ask Johnny to let her ride Maddie again.

Beautiful wooded trails through old time Florida terrain. He kept checking that all the riders were doing ok. Pointed out some interesting facts along the way. Definitely coming back! Comment: This was my first time doing anything other than a pony ride at a petting farm and it was PERFECT for my first ride. I was paired with a horse with a great temperament, although a little of an attitude but hey thats why we got along so well! The trail was breath taking, natural Florida that was easy to get to from Orlando area and the staff was so friendly and welcoming that Ive already recommended it to several people and we just visited yesterday 😆. Comment: Johnny and Tatiana were our guides. Johnny is amazing, knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. Didnt really get to know Tatiana since I was at the back of the group and she was at the front. 11-28-21 at 9am was our ride time but we showed up almost an hour earlier than we were supposed to, oops. We were just eager to get there I guess. lol. Gave us plenty of time to check out all of the horses and get to know J and T a little better as well. I rode Chisal the Belgian, my father rode Ginger the Paint, my step sister rode Pokey the Appaloosa, and her boyfriend rode Helga the Percheron. All of the horses did awesome and seemed very well taken care of. It was our first time at Cactus Jacks and Ill def be back again.

Comment: Traveled from Tampa to CJ and it truly was the most memorable experience! Johnny our guide is amazing, very informative about the horses. The trails are kept up with, and the horses are well taken care of. We did a 2 hour ride and my friends daughter is not experienced as I am and they paired her with the perfect horse. I would highly recommend them. Well worth the traveling to get there, will be back again real soon.

Comment: I selected this stable out of the plethora of local offerings, given the website indicated the majority of the horses were rescued. Once I arrived, I could see that love reigns here. While waiting for our ride to begin, I spent time doting on the horses. It was apparent that some were elderly and others were neglected in the past. However, they are now well-taken care of, as indicative of their appearances and gentle natures.The hands were considerate in selecting appropriate matches for the two-hour long tour, based on personality, experience, and size. I was fortunate enough to ride Dude, a spunky, middle-aged Arabian. We proved to be a perfect match. He would seize any possible opportunity to open up into a canter. However, if he became a bit too feisty, he politely obeyed my riding signals. (Which is a sign of proper training.)I will certainly return to Rock Springs Run Trail Rides for another adventure. I feel they strive to ensure these horses have a chance to enjoy a life that they may otherwise have missed out on, had they not be saved. That is enough reason for me to support this stable and its mission to provide enjoyable rising experiences for human and horse alike.

These people work extremely hard to keep up with everything. I usually tip 15 percent. Check them out it is so worth it. I drive 3 hours just to ride there.

Comment: They did a great time matching horse and rider as in my group there was 9 of us, with range of beginning to experienced. It was a nice mellow ride, very nice trail through the woods with large oaks.The employees have a lot to do with a large group and though we ran a little late, the time was added on the ride to make sure we had our full ride. (90 minutes)I myself have horses and it is nice to see animals that have feed, water and hay as well as a job. The horses are kind and quiet and they do not protest their jobs.The use of a mounting block makes it easy for the rider and better for the horses spines.The guides are friendly and happy and make the ride pleasant and handle anything that comes up, especially if one communicates what they need.Example: we had a 330lb rider, that needed a quiet horse and a beginner that had back surgery that needed a quiet, smooth horse. Problem solved.I would go again in a heart beat!

The day we did go there was a last-minute rescheduling from our guide and we got moved to a different location way into Ocala, which was not a fun car ride but was worth it in the end. They had beautiful horses and was a fun day, our guide was nice, and we will most certainly be back.
