Comment: My kids and I really enjoyed our riding adventure! The horses were beautiful! I am grateful that they accommodated my entire family, including the kids of various ages. We had a pristine ride among scenic views. The owner, Darya, accompanied us on the ride and we became good friends. I highly recommend Myakka Trail Rides for a great horse riding experience!

Comment: I took my daughter on her birthday for horse riding and atv riding. It was so wonderful. They were very professional and took extra safety precautions. I felt bad for the other couple that went with us as my daughter slowed us all down but he recognized that and took the other couple back out when we were done. The trail was very nice and the property was clean. I feel everything was above and beyond. We even got to see the baby pigs. Perfect day.

Comment: My son has been begging me to go horseback riding (he’s 9). So I did a search and found Myakka Trail Rides. The online booking was super easy, and when we got there, we were instantly greeted. We signed the paperwork quickly, and waited just a few minutes while the horses were brought out. Dasha and Victor (I hope I’m remembering the correct name) were extremely helpful, explained what to do. On the trail ride Dasha and my son were chatting up a storm. She pointed out various wildlife, as well as all of their animals. We also saw all of the other horses which she told us their names and breeds. My son was so intrigued with everything that after the ride she even showed him around the barn and explained the different saddles to him.Overall I think this was perfect, especially for his age. They are trail horses and generally follow where they are supposed to go, but you can also direct them a bit as well. The trail dogs were awesome as well! We will definitely be visiting again!

Comment: I highly recommend. My family and I wanted to do a trail ride in memory of my sister, who was a horsewoman and passed away unexpectedly this year. Our party of 5 couldnt have found a more peaceful and enjoyable way to spend the day and remember our sister (even my sister who was fearful about riding). The owners are wonderful people, who love their animals and show a great deal of patience, support and love to their customers. We also got to see the other animals on the farm and learn a bit about Hungarian pigs. We all left smiling and at peace as this setting, the horses, farm, and people were exactly how my sister would have wanted to be remember. Thank you to the owners for their kindness and the pictures.

Comment: My sister and I did the 1 hour trail ride last week. Overall it was a good experience and an affordable way to ride some horses!Pros:- Our guide Dasha and her husband who greeted us were both very friendly. Dasha gave us a brief overview on how to hold the reins and guide the horses, as it had been years since weve ridden. She talked to us throughout the ride.- Both horses and saddles were clean and in good condition, appeared well cared for. The horses both followed the guide nicely, no behavior concerns.- Their dogs greeted us and were super friendly, and both dogs followed along on the trail ride which was adorable. The horses and dogs seems very comfortable together, this caused no problems.- We enjoyed seeing the other horses, including a 5 month old, out in the fields, as well as some cows and pigs.Cons:- The barn that you park in front of appears very rundown, initially I wondered if we were in the right place. Just not what Im used to.- The only bathroom on site is a single porta-potty which was very dirty with spiders inside.- You only ride on their property - so it is about two thirds weaving back and forth on trails through a fenced in area of brush and trees, and about one third riding through their pastures. The scenery was lovely, you just cover the same scenery a lot.In response to the person that complained about riding in a line, thats literally what all beginner level trail rides are like. I had no complaints about that, and overall we had a good time and enjoyed the horses.

Comment: I did an hour trail ride with a group of people. I didnt know anyone in my group and their skill levels were across the board. After an initial straining period we got going and had a great time. There were many trails and lots of scenery to see. I highly recommend Myakka Trail Rides and will attend again myself. Comment: This was our second time with Myakka River Ranch, and my wife and I are very pleased with our experience.Dasha was our guide two years in a row, and she even remembered us! She and her husband Atilla are very accommodating and nice.The horses themselves are very sweet, and gentle. The ranch was scenic experience, because we are from New York and not exposed to the flat tropic festooned with palm bushes and cows!They are a working ranch, so we saw and sometimes rode alongside their cows/calves.We will come again next year!

Comment: The atmosphere is very friendly and staff is extremely well prepared for small or big groups of people. I have personally visited the place several times and never had any issues. All animals seem to be well taken care of and happy; horses really know their job well and are definitely prepared for beginner riders or kids. But most importantly, the owner guides the trail ride in a manner that further ensures safety - considering you are riding big rescued animals that have been prepared extensively to take you on an hour or so hike into the native Florida setting.Two thumbs up!!!!

Her rates are very reasonable.She truly loves all of her horses and takes such good care of them.Lori rides Picasso & I ride General Lee. We just love the whole riding experience we get here.Dasha is very patient with teaching us on to saddle the horses and learning the proper way to hold the reins, to trotting and cantering etc...I think we are on our 5th or 6th time going and we drive over a hour one way to go. Comment: My daughter and I went for a Mothers Day gift. It was perfect, especially since she was a beginner. Dasha is the owner and she was very attentive, informative and a fun trail guide. Her father also helps and his smile was contagious. They have several acres with trails throughout the grounds. Horses are beautiful and obviously loved by their owner. I understand that most of the horses are rescued and live out their lives on the farm. Good people and great place.

Comment: I bought the 2 vouchers for my husband and I to break up our road trip to West Palm Beach coming from Clearwater area. I called to make the appointment in advance but got voicemail. I left my name and number and they called me back the same day to schedule. I explained I was traveling with a very small dog and I asked if she would mind if I brought her on the ride (in a front/back pack). She giggled and said shed never been asked that before but as long as I thought the dog wouldnt be scared, it would be fine. She texted me a reminder which I didnt see so she called me the day of the ride to confirm our appt. We were already almost there. NOTE: there are no restrooms on-site. Go before you get there. We got there; I loaded Lexi (our dog) in the front pack and got on the horse. The horse never knew she was there. It was very leisurely, relaxing ride with beautiful surroundings and I found the owner to be very personable and friendly. She even turned around on her horse to take a picture of me riding with my dog repeating shed never had a dog on the ride before. She told many very interesting stories and kept us entertained. It was a wonderful experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The owner was just a lovely person who rescues horses and gives them a new life where they are loved and cared for. She obviously cares very much for these amazing creatures. I highly recommend Myakka River Ranch if you want to just take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy nature.

Comment: Despite the negative review on this establishment, I can gladly say that I have been riding here for nearly 2 months, and I have yet to come across an issue with the people or the horses. Dasha is a sweet lady who takes good care of the horses and customers. The horses are well feed, groomed and loved. These horses are amazingly trained and are very friendly, even the pasture princess, Sasha is a sweetheart. The barn is well placed and everything from feed to tack is well laid out and easy to access if needed. The tack is always cleaned and well taken care of. The trail rides are great and the one of the trail guides, Sierra, is a sweetheart and is someone you would want to lead your ride. I enjoy going out and riding here. It is a excellent facility and I am very impressed.

Comment: I have been to the Myakka River Ranch and was very satisfied with the over-all experience. I have been around horses my entire life (off and on) and must say that even in the best stables under the best care horses become injured. It is the care and love they receive afterward is what counts. As for the other barn animals - it is often for the protection of the riders and visitors that they are temporarily locked up. No spooked horses or their riders. Often people come riding with inflamed confidence in themselves and accidents occur, so safety first. Anyway, this place is great! Going back!

Comment: My daughter and I did a trail ride last year and had a wonderful time. Very professional, and so so patient and kind to my daughter Ali who has cerebal palsey. She loved it so much she goes every week for a lesson. Her balance and confidence has soared. I could not ask for a kinder, sweeter group of people for my daughter to spend time with. The horses are very well cared for and loved. We are there every week and have never seen any form of mistreatment or abuse. Water is always offered and available for the horses as well as hay, apples and carrots. Along with my daughters riding lesson she is taught proper care for the horses and has spent time with the girls out there brushing and bathing the horses. No animal cruelty going on out there, quite the opposite and anyone who posts such a comment has an ulterior motive and is bitter about something beyond just a bad day at the ranch. Anyone with half a mind can see through the lines and will know that some people are just unhappy about everything and anything and feel the need to spew their ridiculous remarks all over the internet. My daughter loves all the horses out there along with the spoiled and friendly dog Emma. I will continue to take her there and hope that others will give it a try and ignore those with bad intent !

Comment: Our daughter Alexander has been taking lessons from Myakka River Ranch for two years. We were shocked by negative review that Helen Martin has posted about Myakka River Ranch. Owners spent a lot of money on upkeep and maintenance of the horses. It is not very often when you can come to trail riding facility and offered to ride horse which is trained in dressage or jumping. All horses are very well maintained with proper feed, hay, trimmings program as well as tuned up to work with inexperienced riders. We take lessons at other stables and we believe that Myakka River Ranch offers excellent experience in less stressful environment. It is amazing that someone like Helen can show up out of blue and try to destroy young but very compassionate business.

Comment: Wow had a great day. I am 41, not in the best shape, and was kind of nervous about riding a horse for the first time in my life. After being on my horse talky for 5 minutes I was completely at ease and actually relaxed. We were greeted by 1 friendly dog and very friendly staff. Our guide Kat was great and we were joined on our ride by Dasha, and some of the other staff. The scenery is beautiful, including gators, baby cows, and other critters. All the animals seemed to be in great shape, and were being looked after when we pulled up. I highly suggest a trip out to the ranch. Look on the net for the 2 for 1 deals. The price is very reasonable, but I dont think these folks are doing it for the $, they just really seem to enjoy what they do. Thanks Dasha, Kat, and Crew for a wonderful ride, we will be back for sure.

Comment: Our guides, Kat and Jason, were phenomenal. Very-laid back and clearly horse people who love what they do and excel at it. Both were super nice and helpful, especially for my boyfriend, who had never ridden. The horses were fine--seemed a bit tired, but I think its smart that the guides switch up routes and allow them to drink from the pond and snatch some grass now and then. I never met the owner, Dasha, but the guides spoke highly of her; however, a couple of things really disturbed me. For one, to echo one of the previous reviewers comments: the kittens locked in the rabbit cage. I saw them meowing before going on the ride, and after the ride, I paid some attention to them...2 kittens locked in a rabbit cage with some hay, but absolutely no water or dry food. The lack of dry food is disappointing, but the absence of any water (there werent even any bowls in the cage) was downright pathetic. The kittens were meowing and clearly in distress; I just felt terrible that I couldnt help them. Please give these cats to the SPCA or take care of them properly. Secondly, one of the young horses, Splash, had an infected abscess on his left front leg. The wound was swollen will dried blood and had flies on it, clearly needing vet attention. Other than those issues, ride was a ton of fun and guides were a blast.

Comment: This is a positive review that was received recently.My wife and I are big fans of the ranch! It isnt a generic, commercial type stable with rude horse experts that you find at all the others. You can go there and enjoy the horses and country lifestyle at your own pace and feel very secure that you will not have any accidents from over-zealous riders.We have visited the ranch on numerous occasions and love the experience! The ranch was part of a large cattle ranch until the mid 1990s when it was divided into smaller parcels. The barn was constructed in 1928 so it is old but very interesting. We love history and nature so this place is perfect!As the review states, Myakka River Ranch is a simple facility that will focus on the individual riding experience. We will not judge anyone for their lack of equestrian experience and will not attempt to convince you of ours.
