Comment: My daughter just started horseback riding lessons July 2nd at Windemere. She absolutely loved her first lesson! The trainer was very friendly and knowledgeable. Its not just a place where they put you on the horse and ride in a circle. They teach you how to clean their hoofs, brush them, put a saddle on, walk them and put them up afterwards. You learn so much more than just riding. Everyone there was so friendly and encouraging. There are updates going on as well. A covered arena is in the process of being built and it looks like other updates around the property have recently been made.My daughter cant wait for her next lesson!

Comment: My Daughter and I started riding at Windemere this June and absolutely love this barn! Teresa has established a professional, safe, and fun environment for anyone wanting to learn horsemanship. The facilities are incredible and their school horses are all super agreeable. Brooke is not just an amazing Trainer but a wonderful role model of Grace. I’m truly thankful God brought this place into our lives and we look forward to what the future holds!

Comment: Windemere is the most professional and well kept barn and equestrian center I have been to in the Jacksonville area. I started lessons at Windemere after turning 30! As an adult, learning to ride and care for horses has been an incredible experience and one of the things I look most forward to after a busy week. I chose Windemere over other establishments 1.To be able to learn safely with the most experienced oversight and 2.To learn caring for horses in preparation of keeping my own. Teresa, Brooke, Joan and the team are 100% focused on safety and humane treatment of the horses. It is a pleasure to have this hobby, especially at an age where I cannot afford any injuries. As far as the reviews that mention any yelling or rudeness- this is a dangerous sport- and anytime someone has yelled in my direction it was ALWAYS to keep me and my horse safe. I am grateful for the awareness of the staff and their well intentions on keeping all who work and play here out of harm.

Comment: My kids have been taking lessons here weekly since the start of The Covid lockdown just as something to do. It has been a fantastic outlet! The trainers and horses are great. I love that they offer experienced ponies for smaller children to start on. This is a wonderful family friendly place for your kids to learn all of the ground work that goes into basic horsemanship + a full hour of ride time every lesson. I am very impressed with them and highly recommend them.

Comment: My daughter started riding a few years ago at a week long summer camp Windemere offered. She continued with after school lessons during the year and continues to ride. Windermere offers an atmosphere of community, respect and hard work. The trainers encouraged and taught my daughter to work to better herself and her riding at her own pace. They taught her to properly care for and respect her horse. We have had to budget and prioritize our disposible income so that my daughter can continue to ride, but in my opinion, it is so worth it. Windemere has helped shaped my daughter into a self-confident, hard-working, respectful young lady.

Comment: Windemere is an ideal place to learn to ride, and offers superb care for horses!I have 4 children of varying age and degree of experience who lesson at Windemere, and I am thrilled with the quality of instruction they have received. We have lessoned at other barns before settling on Windemere, and I can tell you that trainers and lesson horses here are unsurpassed. My children have learned good horse care and horsemanship, and are progressing quickly and receive abundant support from the instructors. I especially love the Windemere offers the opportunity to learn different disciplines. The lesson horses are steady and talented- real saints! The environment is fun and professional. At other barns I unfortunately witnessed cursing, tobacco use in front of children, and unsafe practices. I was so relieved to find this beautiful facility, where the best protocols are used. The staff at Windemere always err on the side of caution. No child is allowed to progress to another level until they have shown complete competency. I have never felt that myself, my children, or my horses have ever been put in a situation that even approaches dangerous. I speak as a lifelong horse rider, who has seen her share of shenanigans!I board two horses- my babies, here at Windemere. I am so happy to have them in a place where I know they are so perfectly cared for, and that the trainers will care for them in my absence as if they were their own.Windemere is a real gem! Wonderful instruction and care, right in town!

Comment: I dont know who Maggie Smith is, however as a mother of a 14 year old girl who has ridden at Windemere since she was 5 yrs, I have no idea where Maggie Smith has come up with her perspective and accusations. Teresa and Windemere Equestrian Center has a reputation for being OVERLY cautious with riders and its horses. In fact, some people have left Windemere because they want to, for example, canter or jump before it was safe to do so. The policy I have experienced over 9 years is ALWAYS safety first for horse and rider. Our family spends a lot of time at Windemere. We cherish its family oriented wholesome environment. Adults and children are given an opportunity to experience the gift horses bring to our lives. No trainer at Windemere would EVER put any rider in a dangerous situation as the goal we hear all the time is,our job is to help you love riding horses for a lifetime no matter where you ride. Anyone who truly knows horses will readily agree that horses are not machines. They can have bad days, be grumpy with other horses etc. The schooling horses at Windemere are super stars helping beginner, intermediate and advanced riders progress in their skills. Are the horses perfect all the time? No, nor should they be expected to be. However, the schooling horses are tried and true, they know their job and are rewarded every day with excellent care and feeding and TONS of carrots and apples from grateful riders.Lastly, EVERY rider at Windemere is equally important. Ask any of the parents and riders at Windemere. P.S. it doesnt matter if they own a horse or not. Windemere is a vibrant busy barn with tons of kids and adults safely enjoying Gods beautiful creation.

Comment: What an awesome barn! I rode here as a youth and came back as an adult to work for Teresa because of all the great horse/riding training and also all the wonderful life lessons. If you want a barn with no drama and a nice string of reliable school horses, look no further. The school horses and boarded horses are treated like the professional athletes they are and get amazing care.
